Personal experience..the electric car battery..how long does it last?
Since I bought my electric car I have been discussing with many friends and neighbours, and for three months now, in a practical popular survey, the first question they ask is: How far does the battery continue to charge?.. Not some, not a few, all of them While riding in the car they asked this question.
Steve Hanley, a writer who specializes in technology and sustainability in Rhode Island, tells of his personal experience, saying that people compare it to charging and replacing the battery in cell phones frequently and assume the same thing in an electric car battery, and then ask about the battery life, charging time and the brake system.
The manufacturer guarantees the battery for 8 years, so there is no need to consider replacing it before 5 years or noticing a decline in its efficiency.
By averaging a car ride of about 2,500 km in the first three months, Hanley is confident the car will give him 10 years of loyal service, which means about $1,000 a year based on what he paid.
There is no need to worry about the battery life of an electric car if the car is a “Tesla.” Based on documented experiences, it is possible to drive 300,000 miles before the battery deterioration begins significantly.
Similar problems.
One of the advantages of the electric car is that there is software that calculates the remaining battery charge and how much to drive before a new charge through a battery management algorithm based on a variety of factors, including temperature.
With low temperature, for example, the result is that there is 100 km left, but as the temperature rises, the number drops immediately to 91 km before the wheel spins. The same thing happens if the driver turns on the air conditioner, given the high rate of charging consumption.
The range meter is really just a guess because the car doesn’t know in advance whether the driver is going on the road, highway or crowded city streets. All the driver can do is monitor the situation and get ready to find a place to charge the electric car battery or head home when necessary.
But the traditional car is the same thing. Looking at the full mark does not mean complete safety. It is a false feeling. If the car went on a mission for hundreds of kilometers, the driver found it almost empty of fuel, and it might not go another 10 miles before reaching the place of shipment.
Hanley says: For personal safety, I do not go far if its charging is enough for more than 50 km, and if it is less, I keep it for charging at home..
I have one regret about buying an electric car that I didn’t do it sooner!
